Review of the Tour to the Netherlands (Noordwijk)

Sunday 25th August
As soon as we arrived in Holland, I think the first thing everyone did was run down to the beach to look at the pretty sky and play ‘beach rugby’ (but also get away from the hundreds of mini footballers running around the hotel!). Noordwijk was a really lovely place – a little like a seaside resort without the tourists and the tacky souvenir shops.

Monday 26th August
After a ridiculously early breakfast, which only the girls made it to on time (typical), it was rehearsals in the dining hall, which involved lots of moving chairs and tables! After lunch, we were off to ‘Tikabad Tropical Pool’. It was absolutely enormous, with just about every type of waterslide you could think of. Personally, I was less than impressed with the ‘cyclone’ – it felt like being flushed down a toilet bowl! After dinner, it was either bowling, miniature golf or… more beach rugby.

Tuesday 27th August
After breakfast, rehearsals and lunch, we all got on the coach headed for Amsterdam. We went on a cruise where we were all informed of how the little railings stopped cars driving into the canal - fascinating. Then, there was some sightseeing, where we found a few….well, ‘interesting’ side streets! However, it wasn’t long before we were back on the coach for Monnickendam, for a short rehearsal and our very first concert.

Wednesday 28th August
We left for Amsterdam to visit either the Anne Frank house, museum or 3D cinema. Unfortunately, bad map reading caused our group to get a little lost and a 15 minute walk turned into nearer an hour! However, we made it in the end and the Anne Frank house was definitely worth it. After many dilemmas (people getting stuck in spider filled toilets!), we had our dinner at the concert venue. Then it was the concert… on the world’s smallest stage!

Thursday 29th August
It was a free morning for the buying of the Miss. RYO prize and lots of chocolate – mmm mmm and let’s not forget… yet more beach rugby! After lunch, we visited the ‘Delft Porcelain Factory’, where we learnt of the wonders of how black paint changes to blue. We then travelled to Zeist, where we all managed to end up in the same pancake restaurant. After a very very long wait, (so long that we missed the rehearsal!) we finally got our pancakes – I think they deserve another mmm mmm!
After the concert, it was back to the hotel for Miss. RYO. After lots of persuading, we ended up with a respectable number of contestants. There was Tina, Hermaphroditee, Shazza, Bitch, Flaala and Dalaa, and of course, last year’s winner, Princess Perfect (aka Miss Dappy). Despite very good competition, it was Bitch who earned the pink and sparkly crown (clearly due to the lovely dress!). Afterwards, we carried on having fun late into the night, but were eventually sent to bed!

Friday 30th August
After breakfast, we set off for home. It had been a fun tour, where I think everyone had a really great time. We only wish it could have been longer!
